Kyle takes top spot at Herald Higher Education Awards

West College Scotland were delighted to see our HNC Applied Science student Kyle Prele scoop a top accolade at last night’s Herald Higher Education Awards. Kyle, who is also a Modern Apprentice Science Technician at the College and our newly elected Student President for 2023/24 took home the award for Outstanding Contribution from a College student.

Skilled and Sustainable! West Construction Foundation Apprentices are making a big impact.

West College Scotland has outlined its vision to be to be one of the most sustainable colleges in Scotland. As part of this ambition, we as a College are committed to developing and incorporating learning on sustainable practices into our curriculum. Our Foundation Apprenticeship in Construction is doing just that with a group of young FA’s from West College Scotland’s Paisley campus who have impressed their Work Based Challenge partners, Morrison Construction with their sustainable construction skills!

Our HNC Fashion Makeup students have been showcasing their skills this week in their final Graded Unit event. The show which took place at Braehead Centre on Wednesday 25 May brought together our HNC groups at Paisley and Clydebank campuses to show off their final creations inspired by leading and fashion makeup brands on the catwalk.

Student On-May is star of BBC Show ‘Glow-Up’!

On-May who started studying at Clydebank campus in 2019, is currently taking part in series 5 of hit BBC Three show ‘Glow-Up: Britain’s Next Make-up Star’ where contestants compete to impress judges Valerie Garland (Global Make-up Director at L’Oréal Paris) and Dominic Skinner (MUA) to become Britain’s Next Make-up Star.

Motor Vehicle student William Stewart will be representing West College Scotland this Friday (May 19th) when he takes part in the Refinishing National Qualifier of the World Skills Competition at 3M’s Automotive Refinish Centre (ARC) in Atherstone.

Cara is made up with top award!

HND Makeup Artistry graduate, Cara Tonfoni has scooped third place in the regional category for Make-up Artist of the Year for Scotland at the UK Hair and Beauty Awards 2023. The 21-year-old self-employed make-up artist from Renfrew who studied at our Clydebank campus and graduated just last year has been running her business for just 5 months but has already seen great success in the industry in such a short time.
