What a year it’s been for our HND Interior and Graphic Design students! With 3 live client projects, an internship and design competition the students have got a real flavour for what industry has in store for them.

As part of the UK Government’s new Turing Scheme, Motor Vehicle students from Clydebank campus recently had the incredible opportunity to spend time studying in Cyprus and explored a different culture at partner institution, ‘Technical School of Limassol’.

West College Scotland recently teamed up with River Clyde Homes (RCH) for a work-based challenge for their Foundation Apprentice Accounting students.

Thursday 15 June saw the Colleges Paisley campus Photography students gather at Braehead for the launch of their end of year Photography Exhibition.

Audiences were blown away by the level of talent on display at the Drama End of Year Showcase held in the theatre at Paisley Campus last week, on 7th and 8th June.

It was a fabulous celebration in West College Scotland’s Clydebank campus last Tuesday (6 June) to mark 30 fabulous years since our HND (Higher National Diploma) Makeup Artistry qualification was first launched – the first of its kind in Scotland.

Thursday 8 June saw West College Scotland’s Dance students gather at the Beacon Arts Centre for their highly anticipated end of year showcase, Dance Fusion.

Persimmon Homes has donated over 6,000 bricks to West College Scotland to support the next generation of construction workers.

West College Scotland were delighted to see our HNC Applied Science student Kyle Prele scoop a top accolade at last night’s Herald Higher Education Awards. Kyle, who is also a Modern Apprentice Science Technician at the College and our newly elected Student President for 2023/24 took home the award for Outstanding Contribution from a College student.

West College Scotland has outlined its vision to be to be one of the most sustainable colleges in Scotland. As part of this ambition, we as a College are committed to developing and incorporating learning on sustainable practices into our curriculum. Our Foundation Apprenticeship in Construction is doing just that with a group of young FA’s from West College Scotland’s Paisley campus who have impressed their Work Based Challenge partners, Morrison Construction with their sustainable construction skills!

Our HNC Fashion Makeup students have been showcasing their skills this week in their final Graded Unit event. The show which took place at Braehead Centre on Wednesday 25 May brought together our HNC groups at Paisley and Clydebank campuses to show off their final creations inspired by leading and fashion makeup brands on the catwalk.

On-May who started studying at Clydebank campus in 2019, is currently taking part in series 5 of hit BBC Three show ‘Glow-Up: Britain’s Next Make-up Star’ where contestants compete to impress judges Valerie Garland (Global Make-up Director at L’Oréal Paris) and Dominic Skinner (MUA) to become Britain’s Next Make-up Star.

Last week saw our HNC Graphic Design and Animation students visit digital print company, McAllister Litho Glasgow. As a contrast to their digital work students were shown how one of their creations could come to life as printed material.

Former Graphic Design student, Jamie Johnston got the incredible opportunity to work on the visuals for Scottish singer-songwriter, Callum Beattie seconds album, ‘Vandals’.

Natalia, who is currently studying HNC Photography, recently got a taste for the music industry after having the experience to photograph rising local artists MrdB and Brownbear.

Motor Vehicle student William Stewart will be representing West College Scotland this Friday (May 19th) when he takes part in the Refinishing National Qualifier of the World Skills Competition at 3M’s Automotive Refinish Centre (ARC) in Atherstone.

West College Scotland is delighted to have for another year running, received £10,000 funding from the John Mather Trust.

Thanks to funding from Digital Xtra the College hosted a coding club for local children within Renfrewshire last month.

HND Makeup Artistry graduate, Cara Tonfoni has scooped third place in the regional category for Make-up Artist of the Year for Scotland at the UK Hair and Beauty Awards 2023. The 21-year-old self-employed make-up artist from Renfrew who studied at our Clydebank campus and graduated just last year has been running her business for just 5 months but has already seen great success in the industry in such a short time.

Back in January we reported that our NC Graphic Design students had been invited to submit a mural design into an exciting competition by Paisley company ‘Workwear Made Easy’.
