CORONAVIRUS: IMPORTANT STUDENT UPDATE ON COURSE PROGRESSION
Since our campus closures last month, we know you may be wondering about how you can progress and achieve your course. All colleges have agreed to work together under a single set of guidelines and have issued some frequently asked questions (FAQs) as shown below. We hope these help answer some of your questions and address any concerns that you may have. Our aim is to help you, along with your fellow students across Scotland, to continue your learning and to achieve your qualification this year, if possible.
SQA update on arrangements for quality assurance and the certification of National Courses and Awards – a message to schools and colleges
SQA has provided an update in three key areas. Secondly, the marking of National 5 coursework. Finally, details on their approach to the certification of National 2, National 3 and National 4 courses, National Certificates, National Progression Awards, Skills for Work courses, Awards, and free-standing units at SCQF levels 5, 6 and 7.

FACE-TO-FACE TEACHING SUSPENDED BY FRIDAY
Following the announcements by the UK and Scottish Governments, West College Scotland will be suspending all face-to face teaching by Friday 20 March. If you have been advised to work from home by your lecturers, then you should do so. Your lecturers will provide further curriculum advice and support.

WCS Foundation Apprentice to Set Sail on Royal Navy Career
Heather Wilson believes she can set sail on a Royal Navy Career thanks to her Foundation Apprenticeship. The 17-year-old has attended the Greenock Sea Cadets for six years and would love to take this one step further by becoming a Royal Navy Engineer.
Scottish Apprenticeship Week 2020
Scottish Apprentice Week 2020 will celebrate the diversity that that makes work-based learning good for individuals, employers and the economy. Developed as an initiative by Skills Development Scotland, the week will take place 2-6 March, underpinned by the theme of ‘Talent Without Limits’.
Foundation Apprenticeships
To build on the progress of the MA programme, a new strand of the apprenticeship family has been developed. Foundation Apprenticeships: Bringing education closer to industry. Foundation Apprenticeships give school pupils a taste of the world of work and help employers shape future talent.
