West College Scotland is delighted to announce its success at the 2025 CDN (College Development Network) Awards, winning the prestigious Inclusive College Award for its inspirational project, A West Fashion Show: Four Seasons in a Day.
This truly inclusive, student-led event brought together over 100 learners from more than 15 departments across the College. Students of different abilities, cultures, identities, and backgrounds collaborated to design and model outfits created entirely from donated clothing, celebrating sustainability, creativity, and diversity. The project highlighted the College’s commitment to ensuring every learner feels seen, valued, and included.
Departments including Hairdressing, Make-up Artistry, Media, Hospitality, Music, and Dance worked together to bring the show to life. Following the event, a clothing sale at the College’s Finnart Street campus in Greenock raised £1,800 to support students in crisis.
The College was also Highly Commended in the Employer Connections Award category for its partnership with Babcock International and The Babcock Pre-Apprenticeship Programme which supports S5 and S6 pupils from West Dunbartonshire and Inverclyde, two of Scotland’s most deprived regions. The programme blends a National Progression Award in Engineering with employability skills, mentoring, and hands-on industry engagement offering a meaningful alternative route into skilled employment for young people facing academic or socioeconomic barriers.
West College Scotland congratulates all staff, students, and partners involved in these achievements and celebrates the recognition of its ongoing commitment to inclusive education, collaboration, and community impact.
Our achievements at this year’s CDN Awards celebrate the remarkable, people, partnerships and collaborations that define West College Scotland. From the inclusive creativity of A West Fashion Show to our work with Babcock supporting young people into skilled employment, these projects show what can be accomplished when the College, industry, and community partners work together. I am incredibly proud of our learners, staff and partners whose passion and teamwork made this recognition possible.Anne Campbell
