Our highly qualified lecturing team possess a wide range of extensive industry experience working with a broad and varied category of athletes, sporting activities, client groups and levels from professional to keen enthusiast.
Although our Sport and Fitness courses offer you an alternative to conventional classroom learning, we don’t just cover the physical side of things. You will also gain an extensive range of knowledge and understanding in a variety of disciplines, whilst promoting and enhancing personal skills such as planning, organisation and communication skills. We work closely with industry partners across all three of the campus regions promoting health, fitness and wellbeing, offering live sessions to our community groups. This can only enhance our students experience on their learning journey.
Graduates from our course have gone on to work in the Sport and Fitness industries for many leading organisations across the West of Scotland and beyond.
What will I learn?
This course can help turn a love of exercise and fitness into a nationally recognised industry award. The course is designed to provide you with the underpinning knowledge, as well as the teaching and instructing skills for successful progression to HND level study or for employment within the fitness industry. This course is recognised with the Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity (CIMSPA).

What qualifications do I need?
You will need two Highers including English or a Higher with literacy content, or have successfully completed NC Sport and Fitness: Level 5 (SCQF level 5), Access to HN Sport (SCQF level 6), or NPA Level 6 (SCQF level 6).
Relevant qualifications from other national governing bodies and work experience will also be considered.
For a place on the course you'll need to attend an interview.
What can I do after?
From HNC you could progress on to HND or Exercise Professional Personal Trainer course or access a range of Degree level courses at Universities across Scotland (entry point at year one or two) in relevant subject areas such as Sport and Exercise Science Sports Studies Physical Education or Physical Activity and Health related studies. Undergraduate Strength and Conditioning programmes.
