What will I learn?
This course is for people on the autistic spectrum and/or with a learning disability who want to increase their employment prospects. It is part of a partnership between West College Scotland, Inverclyde Council and NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde.
The Project Search course is a 5-day-per-week program. You will develop your employability skills at Inverclyde Council and NHS Inverclyde in a class room setting, in subjects such as Team Building, Workplace Safety, Technology, Maintaining Employment, Self-advocacy, Financial Literacy, Health & Wellness, Preparing for Employment.
You will also participate in three, 10-week placements in a variety of job roles within Inverclyde Council and Inverclyde Royal Hospital. Work placements may include catering, housekeeping, administration and environmental roles. Each working day interns will complete a minimum of 4 hours real-life work experience, as well as additional classroom learning, such as employability skills for the full academic year.
You will be supported throughout the course by a college lecturer, job coaches and placement staff.
What qualifications will I need?
You will need to live within the Inverclyde Council Area and be working at SCQF Level 3 or above. You need to be an independent traveller when you start the course.
What can I do after?
On completion of this course, you will be able to demonstrate that you now have the skills and experience required to increase your chances of gaining employment or, further study options at college
