Creative Writing - December Start

What will I learn?

This online course is for you if you are interested in writing, whether that be short stories, poems, song lyrics, plays, sketches, flash fiction – even novels. All levels of experience and all genres of writing are welcome in this course which will cover a range of genres and focus on the bedrock techniques of:

• Characterisation
• Setting
• Plot
• Narrative point of view
• Style
• Poetic and dramatic forms and techniques
• Ways to find a wider audience for your work

The course will be aligned with the SQA Creative Writing 1 unit (SCQF level 5) and will offer the opportunity to gain this qualification. There will be a few set assignments, but the course will also provide feedback on your own writing from the experienced course tutor – as well as advice and encouragement on how to take the next steps with your writing.

What can I do after?

Progression: Potential progression to level 6 Creative Writing unit and/or National 5 or Higher English if appropriate.
