Hilary is a Chartered Civil Engineer and has had a varied career to date in both the private and public sectors, principally in the transport sector.  Following graduation from Glasgow University, Hilary worked for the first 10 years of her career for global engineering consultancies as a geotechnical and highways engineer on a variety of major infrastructure projects, gaining experience in engineering design, project management, procurement, contract management and on construction sites. 

Hilary moved into the public sector in 2006 as a project manager with Transport Scotland, the national transport agency for Scotland where she has held a number of roles, including Head of Procurement, Head of Rail Franchise Management and is currently Head of Rail Business Management.  As well as her extensive experience of governance, procurement and project management, Hilary is committed to championing continuous learning and development, inclusivity, diversity and health and wellbeing.
